Title Services

Alaska Tags and Titles is able to provide you with all of your titling needs for your personal vehicle, commercial vehicle, trailers, and motorcycles. We are able to title new vehicles, out-of-state vehicles, and transfer ownership of Alaskan Vehicles. We can also provide you with lien recordings, lien releases, name changes and removals, duplicate titles and replacement titles. We also provide temporary permits for those who are waiting on ownership documents or one-way trip permits for vehicles needing emission testing or needing to be moved for other qualified reasons.
Please be aware that Alaska does not issue titles for boats, ATV’s, or snow machines.

Any title or registration that you would like to mail in should be sent to the Wasilla office. Our other locations do not process mail in transactions. For further information please contact the Wasilla office at 907-373-3681.

In order to best serve you we would like to provide you a list of the necessary documents we will need in order to title your vehicle, trailer, or motorcycle.

Titling a Vehicle, Trailer, or Motorcycle

1. Ownership Documents Needed:
· Manufacturers Certificate of Origin OR
· Manufacturers Statement of Origin OR
· Title that has been properly signed by last registered owner or  owners.
Note: If there is an “AND” conjunction between the owners names or an “AND/OR” you will need BOTH signatures of the registered owners to release the title.

2. Complete application for title and registration. The new owner needs to fill out sections 1-5 then sign and date the form in ink.

3. Check, money order, or cash for the fees due.

Replacement Title for Lost, Stolen, or Destroyed Titles

1. You will need to complete the Affidavit of Lost, Stolen, or Destroyed Titles. It will need to be notarized if you are not filling it out in front of an Alaskan DMV clerk.

2. A lien release from the financial lender if the vehicle still has a lien listed on the vehicles record. You must also fill out the vehicle transaction short form and check the lienholder release section.
Note: A lien is not removed from your record until you bring in the lien release and have a clean title produced.

3. Check, money order, or cash for the fees due.

Lien Released From Title

1. You will need to bring either the title that has been stamped and/or signed by the lien holder releasing their interest in the title OR

2. A lien release on letterhead from the financial lender that includes the year, make, model, and VIN of the vehicle and the title to the vehicle OR

3. A letter of lien release from the individual that held the lien. It must include the year, make, model, and VIN of the vehicle they no longer hold interest in and the title to the vehicle.

4. You must fill out the vehicle transaction short form and check "Remove lienholder".

5. Check, money order, or cash for the fees due.
