Registration Services

Alaska Tags and Titles is able to provide you with all of your needs when it comes to registering your personal vehicle, commercial vehicle, trailers, motorcycles, boats, ATV’s, and snow machines. We can also assist you in registering your vehicle if the title is being held in another state by a lien holder. We can also assist you in issuing replacement license plates, tabs, and duplicate registration cards. Please be aware that Alaska does not issue registration for off-road motorcycles.

Any title or registration that you would like to mail in should be sent to the Wasilla office. Our other locations do not process mail in transactions. For further information please contact the Wasilla office at 907-373-3681.

In order to best serve you we would like to provide a list of the necessary documents to begin the registration process.

Vehicles New to Alaska that have an Out-of-State Lien Holder.
1. Ownership Documents Needed:
·    Current out-of-state registration OR
·    Out-of-state registration that has expired no more than 90 days OR
·    A copy of the out-of-state title that shows you as the registered owner and the lien      holder

2. Completed application for title and registration.The new owner needs to fill out sections 1-5 then sign and date the form in ink.

3. Please be aware! If you are registering your vehicle in the Municipality of Anchorage and your vehicle is 4 years or older you will need an emission test no older than 90 days to renew your registration.

4. Check, money order, or cash for the fees due.


Renewing Registration for Vehicles Previously Registered to Alaska
1. Please bring the license plate number, decal number, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), or serial number of the vehicle, trailer, ATV, snow machine, or boat (hull number) you wish to renew.

2. Please be aware! If you are registering your vehicle in the Municipality of Anchorage and your vehicle is 4 years or older you will need an emission test no older than 90 days to renew your registration.

3. Check, money order, or cash for the fees due.

Transferring Ownership or Registering Snow Machines, ATV’s, and Boats for the 1st Time or New to the State of Alaska

1. Ownership Documents needed:
· Bill of Sale either from dealership or private individual that contains the VIN or hull   number for boats OR
· Manufacturers certificate of origin OR
· An affidavit stating when and who the snow machine/ ATV/ or boat was purchased OR
· The last title or registration that was issued
Note: Alaska does not issue titles for  ATV’s, snow machines, or boats. If you have obtained an out-of-state title for any of  these vehicle types we will take a copy of the title and return the original to you.

2. Completed application for title and registration. The new owner needs to fill out sections 1-5 then sign and date the form in ink.


3. Check, money order, or cash for the fees due.

Duplicate Registration, Lost Plate, Lost Decal, or Lost Tabs

1. Please bring the license plate number, decal number,Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), or serial number of the vehicle, trailer, ATV, snow machine, or boat (hull number) that you need the duplicate for.



2. Fill out the vehicle transaction application short form for ATV’s, snow machines, vehicles, trailers, or motorcycles. Fill out the boat application for boats. Check the appropriate space for your transaction.

3. Check, money order, or cash for the fees due.

Transfer of Personalized, Veteran, or Disabled Plates

1. Please bring the license plate number you would like to transfer and the plate number or VIN of vehicle you are transferring it to. Note: You must be the registered owner of the vehicle AND the Specialty plate
.

2. Fill out the vehicle transaction application short form with the vehicles information that you are putting the specialized plates on. In the comments section indicate what plate number you are having transferred if the vehicle is already titled in your name.

3. Complete application for title and registration. The new owner needs to fill out sections 1-5 then sign and date the form in ink. In section 9 of the affidavit, indicate what plate number you are having transferred. This step is only necessary when you are transferring a title into your name with the specialty plate.

4. Check, money order, or cash for the fees due.
